Tattershall Lakes
I disappeared for about a week and want to share what I did, where I went, and how it was.
Key Details
Tattershall Lakes. Away Resorts. “Luxury” caravan. 4 nights. My parents in a “Burst of Blue” with the eldest two. My wife, my 1-year-old and I in the caravan.

Overall, it was pretty fun.
My one-year-old was (and is) a nightmare of chaos and had a lot of fun discovering a new pan draw, emptying out a new bin, and turning on a new gas hob. He had a good time in the outdoor lido (except when it was too windy) and the splash park (except when we wouldn’t let him climb up the slide).
My four-year-old loved the hot tub and is now telling everybody she meets that the hot tub was the best bit of her holiday. She also did pottery painting and made a unicorn money box, and made a friend at the splash park.
My seven-year-old got to do an inflatable obstacle course on the lake with wetsuits and flotation aids, and had his first ever Dominos. He also thought the splash park was pretty good.
We played crazy golf and went to Tattershall castle. We watched countless planes come in and out of RAF Coningsby. And my wife and I had many a deep chat in the hot tub once the baby was asleep, and played Stratego and Jaipur and generally revelled in not having a TV or laptops.
I read something a while ago that kids love all holidays and the reason you spend money is to make the experience more pleasant for the parents. I think that’s probably right. This was an unashamedly cheap holiday and the kids wouldn’t know it in the slightest. Us, banging around in a small caravan under a noisy flight path…we did.
Lots of fun - I hope the kids will remember it and when I asked them they said it was the best ever.
